Cook County Against Beverage Taxes CALL TO ACTION

CALL TO ACTION – Cook County Coalition Against Beverage Taxes is a group of concerned citizens, businesses and community organizations actively opposing yet another tax on everyday grocery items like soft drinks, juice drinks, sports drinks, fountain drinks, coffee drinks and teas.
Right now, Cook County Commissioners want a new tax on common beverages – up to a penny-per-ounce – to fix the budget problems they created. That’s an extra $1.44 on every 12-pack. This is in addition to the existing Chicago special tax on soft drinks! We don’t think county officials should fix their budget by taking more money from hard-working families and small businesses.
That’s why we’re rallying folks like you to say NO to more beverage taxes. You are receiving this email because you signed up to learn more about how you can keep unfair beverage taxes from raising your grocery bill at checkout. For that, we thank you.
But we’re just getting started. Contact your Cook County Commissioner from our new official Cook County Against Beverage Taxes campaign hub to urge that a new beverage tax be rejected.
