From NAMA – Advocating for Convenience Services in Phase 4
NAMA is closely monitoring Congress as it develops the next stimulus package to aid businesses impacted by COVID-19. Below are several priorities NAMA is advocating to be included in the final bill.
Front-line Heroes – the AG CHAIN Act will providing a federal income tax exemption for the dedicated men and women working every day to keep machines and markets stocked during the public health crisis. https://www.namanow.org/wp-content/uploads/AG-CHAIN-Draft-Text.pdf
Unmerchantable Products – establishing a tax credit for operators forced to discard expired product due to the inability of accessing vending machines and markets during the pandemic.
Liability Protections – working to protect your businesses from over-reaching litigation in response to operating as an essential industry during the public health emergency.
Employee Retention Tax Credit Clarity – NAMA joined a letter this week urging fixing discrepancies in language in the CARES Act providing a fully refundable tax credit for employers equal to 50 percent of qualified wages employers pay their employees. IRS is wrongly excluding businesses deemed “essential.”
