Subject: Food Safety Certification laws final phase–attachment July schedule
July is fast approaching and that means that the final phase of the new food safety certification laws will be taking effect. This phase changes the format of the Food Managers Certification seminar. On July 1st the current two-day seminar and exam will be reduced to a one-day seminar and exam. The time frame of the new seminar format will be 9:00 am until 6:00 pm. There will be time for breaks and a short lunch period.
Even though the hour requirements for certification have been reduced we will still be using the same exam that was used in the two-day seminar. What this means is that we still have the same amount of material to cover in a less amount of time. To help us get the proper information to the students, we will be emailing the study guide in PDF format to each student with the letter of confirmation when they register. Then the student will be able to download the material and print it out and review it. The material will be available in English and Spanish depending on which class the student registers for. The study guide will also be available on our website for students to go and download and print. If a unit manager sends us a registration for one of their employees the study guide and confirmation letter will be emailed to the manager, then it would be the manager’s responsibility to make sure the employee receives the materials.
It is imperative that students receive the study guide in advance so that they can get familiar with the material because once they get to the class it will move fairly quickly, and when the class is complete there will be a short review of the material and then the exam will be given. So we ask that your employees register as far in advance as possible. Ultimately, an employee should be registered at least a week in advance of the class they will be attending.
The second part of the new law that will be introduced on July 1st is the change in the way re-certifications will be processed. As of July 1st re-certifications will need to attend the same seminar format as a new certification and they will also have to take the same test. So the registration process will be the same for the regular certification and re-certification.
Also, please remember that we are currently in the middle of rolling out the training schedule for the new Food Handlers law that kicks off on July 1st. Contact us to help you set up a training program that will fit into your operation.
The new pricing format was laid out in the May newsletter and the new pricing will be put into place with all registrations for classes beginning July 1st (see attachment).
If you have questions about the registration process or the new pricing, contact us at our new email address info@safedining.com, or call us at 630-434-0588.
As we roll out all these new programs we anticipate some bumps. We have put together this curriculum to make the transition as smooth as possible. As usual, we would love your input. If you have a suggestion as to how we can make this all work better, let us know. It only works if it works for everyone.
As always, we appreciate your patience and confidence. The SafeDining Association will continue to bring our members the highest quality of food safety training and customer service that you all have come to expect for the past 24 years.
Thank you,
Guy and Suzanne Rallo & the staff of The SafeDining Association
